Repacking wheel bearing

Wheel bearing’s lifespan is in accordance to its maintenance. With yearly lubrication and proper care, a wheel bearing can last for years. When annual maintenance is not done, a wheel bearing can cause expensive damages to its surrounding parts. These easy steps will likely keep you away from being stranded on the side of the road, avoiding a costly repair bill related to an overheated or under lubricated wheel bearing.

Lift the vehicle and remove the wheel. Make sure to use a jack stand to be safe. It would be better to ask help in installing the jack stand. Find the safest vehicle jacking point and raise it off the ground with the jack. Remove the wheel by turning the lug nuts counterclockwise using the vehicle’s lug wrench.
Dismount the two brake caliper pins to take off the caliper, or hammer the drum off with a rubber mallet, depending on the vehicle. After removing the caliper or drum, remove the wheel hub that contains the bearings. To do this tap on the cap, use a rubber mallet until it’s loose enough to remove with your hand. Pull out the cotter key using your needle-nose pliers, and then turn the wheel hub nut counterclockwise using an adjustable crescent wrench. Now you can remove the hub.
Remove and clean the wheel bearings. Wheel hub contains front and rear wheel bearings that both must be removed for cleaning or replacement. The bearing should fall right out of the hub. Once you have the bearings, take them and the hub to a wash basin containing a solvent (engine degreaser will work best) to remove all old bearing grease.
Dry the cleaned bearing with a compressed air and a blow gun. Check thoroughly for dirt or foreign matter. Take your wheel hub and blow it dry with the air, inspecting it as well. Look inside the hub at the bearing races for any dirt or foreign matter.
Take the bearing in one hand and a palm full of grease, I would suggest to use high temp grease in this application. Press the bearing to your palm, forcing the new grease through the bearing and out through the needle rollers. Continue in a circular motion until the entire bearing is packed full. Make sure to avoid setting the bearing on any dusty or dirty surfaces at this time. Repeat this process with other bearings, front and rear.
Reinstall the wheel bearings in the wheel hub and install the hub in the reverse order that you removed it. Install the brake caliper by replacing the two caliper pins. Place your wheel back on by putting the lug nuts in place and turning clockwise until tight. Remove the jack stand and let the vehicle back down to the ground. We hope that is article would be helpful on performing another year of wheel bearing maintenance.

Top Jogging Strollers Compared

There are some great jogging strollers on the market today, and sometimes the best-sellers can be hard to differentiate between. Here are some of the similarities, differences and reviews between a few of the leading jogging strollers.

In the $100-200 price range, we will compare the Jeep Overland Limited Jogging Stroller to the Instep Grand Safari Swivel Wheel Jogger.

Both of these strollers have:
Speakers that will connect to an mp3 player
An adjustable handle for Mom and Dad
A child and parent cup holder
Large storage basket
Reclining seat for baby
Suspension system to absorb bumps
An easy-fold system

Some differences:
The Jeep has three 16 inch wheels, and the InStep Grand Safari has two 16 inch rear wheels and a 12 inch front wheel
Weight of the Jeep is approximately 27 pounds, while the InStep weighs about 33 pounds
Maximum weight capacity of the Jeep is 45 pounds, and the InStep maximum weight is 50 pounds
The InStep is car seat compatible, while the Jeep does not accommodate a car seat
Jeep comes with a speed-distance odometer

Main difference:
The Jeep Overland has a fixed front wheel, and the InStep Grand Safari has a swivel wheel. This can be a deal-breaker for some. If you are mainly desiring a sturdy jogging stroller, you may be perfectly satisfied with the fixed wheel feature. This ensures that while jogging, you will not suddenly veer off to one side if you were to hit a bump or a rock, and is the safest option for jogging. Fixed wheels can be more difficult to turn around sharp corners, however, without lifting up the front wheel of the stroller. The InStep has a fixed wheel or swivel wheel option, so that if you decide to use your stroller in a mall or place that tighter turns are necessary, the swivel wheel will work better than a fixed.

Reviews: Amazon reviewers give the Jeep Overland 4 stars out of 93 reviews. 41 of those reviews give the full 5 stars, and 16 reviews give the stroller only 1-2 stars.

Some praise for the Jeep Overland:
Very stable
Affordable
Smooth ride
Not too long or heavy

Some criticism:
Small water bottle holder
Many people did not like the fixed wheel
Large and bulky when folded up (though the wheels pop off easily, and this helps the bulkiness)
Issues of quality and performance

Amazon reviewers give the InStep Grand Safari Swivel Wheel 4 stars out of 54 reviews. 29 of those reviews give the full 5 stars, and there are only 7 reviewers that give the stroller 1-2 stars.

Some praise for the InStep Grand Safari:
Great sun shade
Smooth ride
Great price
Sturdy

Some criticism:
Some reviewers had major safety concerns regarding the front tire popping off unexpectedly
Plastic handlebar (as opposed to foam or rubber)
Feels heavy
Difficulty pumping front tire

In the $200 price range, we will compare the Schwinn Turismo to the Joovy Zoom360 Swivel Wheel Jogger.

What is an Auto Detail (Atlanta)

What is an Auto Detail?

I have seen quite a few ads on discount sites offering deals on auto details. When I read what the deal consists of they turn out to be glorified car washes. The thing that stymied me was that those deals sold about a thousand coupons. So I thought I would bring to the attention of my loyal public what a detail really is.
If you are old school like me, you probably think of a detail as a wash a wax and interior shampoo, the works. But technically, a detail can be as simple as a car wash. And many advertisers use that terminology because they know that when people hear the word detail, they are thinking of the works.
One deal that I saw that advertised an auto detail for $35 did not even include a hand wash. it was simply a glorified ride through the tunnel. One thing to look for is the word “hand”. If wax is listed as a part of the service, you could end up getting a liquid wax sprayed on your car in the wash tunnel.
So, take time to read the services that are included in your detail and don’t be afraid to ask questions about the individual services offered.

One deal I saw recently was a deal for a complete detail for only $65? It is listed on their website at $255. If that is not amazing enough, they will come to your home or place of business and do the work. I certainly scrutinized that one, but I found out that it is a legitimate full service detail. Hand wax, interior shampoo of seats and carpets, the works. I thought I would let you all know about it. So, if you are in the Atlanta area, go to http://buyalongwithus.com and get this one.

The company’s name is FleetCleaners, Inc. They are out of Lawrenceville GA and service the whole Atlanta Metro area.

How To Change A Tyre – Cheapest Quality Car Tyres In Alicante

Alicante Fast-Fit Car Tyre Specialists – How To Change A Tyre

It is best to replace all four tyres at the same time. If thats not necessary you should replace the two front tyres or the two rear tyres as a pair. Replacing just one can seriously affect your car’s handling.

So, to change a tyre…

Park the vehicle on firm, level and non-slippery ground away from traffic. Turn on the hazard warning lights and turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and remove the keys. Warning! If the vehicle is in a dangerous or very busy location, ask for roadside or police assistance.

Put the transmission in Park (automatic) or Reverse (manual). Apply the parking brake. All passengers have to get out of the vehicle while you change the tyre. Warning! According to the law and your safety you must wear a high visibility jacket/vest. It is recommended to wear heavy-duty gloves. Wheels and tyres can be hot or, in a blowout situation the source of puncture or wire from the tyre itself can cause injury.

Remove the spare wheel. Spare wheels are usually located under the rear floor of the boot. Tip: Place blocks in front of and behind the wheel diagonally opposite the wheel that you are changing.

Remove the wheel cover or centre cap and, whilst the wheel with the flat tyre is on the ground, loosen all of the wheel nuts 1/2 a turn with the wheel wrench. This will allow you to create more torque on the wheel nuts.

Find the jacking point, as identified in the owner’s manual. Place the jack under the jacking point. Turn the jack handle clockwise until the top of the jack contacts the jacking point. Make sure that the jacking point tab is resting in the jack notch. NB: Use the jack that came on your car. If you try to raise another car by this jack or use another jack to raise your car, the car or jack can be damaged. Warning! Never get under a vehicle when only supported by the jack.

Turn the jack handle clockwise further to raise the car until the flat tyre is off the ground.

Remove the wheel nuts (dont lose them). Top tip: In the event of losing all nuts from one wheel remove one nut off each of the other wheels in order to get you the nearest automotive servicing facility.

Before mounting the spare wheel, wipe any dirt off the mounting surface of the wheel and hub with a clean cloth.

Now put on the spare wheel. Put all of the wheel nuts on finger-tight, and then tighten them in a criss-cross pattern with the wheel wrench until the wheel is firmly against the hub. Do not try to tighten them fully.

Lower the vehicle to the ground and tighten the nuts securely in the same criss-cross pattern.

Check the tightness of the wheel nuts after 40-80 km and then on regular basis (recommended by: British Standard).

Best Wheel Balancer To Balance Tyres

The first electronic wheel balance system was invented in 1945. Before this invention wheel balancing required the wheels to be removed from the vehicle. This method was very slow and open to error. With the invention of the electronic wheel balancer the procedure became not only quicker but also more reliable. The system worked by spinning the wheels at high speed while still on the vehicle and then analyzed by a technician to decide where the weights should be placed on the wheel. Today the wheel balancer is very technically advanced but it is also a procedure that you can carry out without the help of any technicians.

There are a number of items required before you can start balancing your tire. They are weights, permanent marker, cutters, racers tape, and a front wheel hub. When you have all the required items assembled then choose the first wheel that you want to balance. The wheel should be attached to the hub and slid onto the top of the balancer. That is the part that spins.

The top part of the balancer is then placed on the two rods and the wheel spun lightly. You need to ensure that there are no obstructions that will prevent the wheel from spinning freely. Do not stop the wheel from spinning but let it come to a halt on its own.

When the wheel has stopped use the permanent marker to mark the highest point. This is the wheels lightest point and is where the weight will be added. It is important to be very precise marking the spot where the weight will be attached.

Take a piece of the weight strip and tape it where the wheel has been marked. Without taping anything important, get as close to the hub as possible. When this has been done turn the wheel until the mark is at the 3:00 or 9:00 position.

Release the wheel and if the marked line goes toward the 6:00 position then you need less weight is required. Remove the weight and reapply a smaller piece of tape. If it goes to the 12:00 position then you need to add some more weight. Remove the weight and tape and put a larger piece of weight on the wheel.

The preceding two steps should be repeated until the wheel is balanced perfectly. When the mark is placed anywhere on the wheel and it does not move the wheel is balanced.

The Ranger DST 2420 wheel balancer is an accurate balancer that is known for its reliability. It uses Digital Sensor Technology to guarantee your wheel is perfectly balanced every time. It calculates the exact weight automatically ensuring that your wheels are totally vibration free. The DST 2420 wheel balancer will do all the calculations in six seconds.

The Ranger DST 2420 wheel balancer is a very reliable and simple to use balancer. The repeatability makes it one of the best of the middle price range balancers on the market today.
